Greetings to all,
The 2016 KCA Fall Meeting was an absolute hit! The move to the Prairie Band Casino proved to pay off and the weather for travel could not have been better. Many of us took advantage of the room block
and were able to socialize and continue our discussions long after the meeting was over.
Presenters throughout the day kept us engaged with everything from litho painting monuments to the latest trends in our industry and how we can improve our own parks with little investment. Our
keynote speaker, Professor Pasley, certainly taught me a thing or two, who would have thought that about the Hindu religion!
We elected new officers and board members for 2017. Mike Land is finally off the hook as he retired earlier this year. Mike played a key role in getting the KCA on its feet again and will certainly
miss him. Congratulations Mike! I have assured Jimmy Radovich as he becomes president in January, we will have a “peaceful transition of power”. All yours buddy! Please check our website for a
complete list of the 2017 officers.
I’d like to thanks all the vendors and presenters. Without your support we could not have success that we are currently enjoying. I am looking forward to working with all of you in the future. Please
keep those ideas coming! As your outgoing president I’d like to thanks everyone who has helped the KCA these past few years. It truly is a team effort. I am NOT going away, just cycling back around
and I know as we move forward the KCA will only get stronger. Happy Holidays and as my friend Professor Pasley says, “Tell you friend about us!”
Truly,
Michael Matney
KCA President
HB 2172 PASSES
Your Association was successful at sponsoring HB 2172 (discussed at our meeting last fall). KCA worked closely with KSOS staff, KCA President Mike Land’s testimony supporting the bill was compelling and the close contact Mike Matney had with Representative Frownfelter were all key factors in passing this legislation.
Also thanks to John Peterson of Capitol Strategies, LLC whose assistance in guiding the bill was invaluable.
To all of the members who called their Representatives encouraging support of the Bill – Thank You
